What is dedicated prospect development support like?
Our first conversation with you is to learn more about your research, prospect management, prospect identification, analytics and due diligence needs. We’ll talk about how you like to receive information and what your fundraising priorities are. We’ll learn about your timelines and upcoming deadlines. And we’ll discuss if you need a consulting partner to help create and take charge of your information strategy; someone who is a profile or prospect identification maven; or something in between.
When you sign up for dedicated support, we match you with a consultant on our team who has experience in working with a nonprofit like yours, who shares a connection with your mission, and who brings the skills you need to move forward – whether it’s research, prospect management, analytics, prospect identification, due diligence, or a little bit of all of that. We’ve all worked in nonprofits, so we know the annual priorities, the fiscal deadlines, and the fall and spring events schedules.
We start our partnership with at least 68 hours per month for a minimum of three months to make sure you’re getting the most traction. Hitting it off and hitting the ground running are the norm, and you will find yourself working with someone who is genuinely interested in your success.
You’ll have weekly meetings with your dedicated consultant – whether for a quick 5 minute update or a full meeting to set new priorities or explain a new project. We can attend fundraising staff meetings – or not – as you need. Need someone to directly access your database or input data? We’re completely comfortable with most major CRMs (and can usually figure out the others quickly!)
Need to pull your dedicated consultant away from one project to work on another on a moment’s notice? No problem – as former nonprofiteers, all of us enjoy the variety and the changeable dynamics of nonprofit life.
With dedicated research, you not only have access to your consultant’s expertise and our extensive library of research resources like LexisNexis, iWave, and ResearchPoint, you have access to proprietary data sources we’ve created and a talented back bench of HBG colleagues with their own specialty knowledge as well.
Our consultants can be directed or directive. If you already know what you need, we’re happy to work within your framework. If you’re not sure how to apply everything we can do, we’re happy to suggest opportunities and do the work – it’s all within the contract!
Benefits
Each of our team members has deep prospect research experience…
…and The Helen Brown Group is a constant learning lab – we share resources, knowledge and techniques every day. We know how to find the critical information you need – fast.
Dedicated research support is 52 weeks per year.
With HBG dedicated research support, there is always someone at HBG available to help you year-round, even if your HBG partner is on vacation. That’s like getting an extra month of work time, if you factor in the typical nonprofit schedule of vacation, sick, and holiday leave time.
We bring cutting edge expertise in a flexible package
Every nonprofit needs prospect research, and we help organizations of all sizes. From small nonprofits that need research but can only afford part-time help part of the year, to large organizations that need extra help year-round with ongoing work and special projects.
